The power of chili peppers

Knifestock Bearspray FOG is a bear defense spray made from natural ingredients. It uses an extremely strong extract from chili peppers – OC (oleoresin capsicum). In practice this means: instant effect, massive dispersion, and a paralyzing impact.

Not just for bears

It can be used:

• in case of a bear attack
• when encountering an aggressive dog or other animal
• in situations of self-defense or emergency

Unlike a standard pepper spray, bear spray is designed specifically for large animals. It has a much larger volume, wider dispersion, and acts mainly to disorient, not to cause fatal harm.

Technical parameters

• Volume: 150 ml or 250 ml

• Dispersion: FOG (mist) – wide coverage, not a narrow stream

Save it for a critical situation

Bear spray has a relatively short discharge – when continuously pressed, it lasts only a few seconds. That’s why we recommend choosing the larger 250 ml version, which provides more certainty in a crisis.

Just release the safety

How to activate the bear spray? Our Bearspray uses a simple safety system. With one hand, release the small plastic safety clip that prevents accidental discharge. Once removed, the spray is ready for immediate use.

We recommend practicing at home – how to draw it, release the safety, and aim. In a crisis, every second counts.

Buried in your bag it’s useless

Here are some tips on carrying and use.

Don’t carry it buried deep in your backpack. Ideally, keep it:

• on your belt
• in the front pocket of your backpack
• in a quick-access holster

It’s a good idea to practice quick draw and safety release in advance.

When urgent use is needed, you usually have only a few seconds – and stress won’t make you faster. Be prepared! Always spray with the wind, not against it.

What to do if the spray hits a person? Endure – it will pass!

If the substance gets into eyes or onto skin:

• rinse with plenty of clean water
• do not rub!
• do not apply oils or milk
• allow time – effects will subside in 15–30 minutes
• wash clothes and ventilate the area

Important: Never test the spray “just for fun” – and definitely not near children or pets.

Mandatory equipment in Canada

Who should carry bear spray? This product should be with anyone spending time outdoors:

• hikers, trekkers, bushcrafters
• families with children going mushroom picking or camping
• foresters, hunters, bikers, EDC enthusiasts
• photographers, filmmakers, biologists, or field workers

Not only in areas with confirmed bear presence – but also in buffer zones or places where encounters with wild boars, stray dogs, or other wild animals are possible.

We accidentally tested it on ourselves

When we were filming our Bearspray in the forest, we didn’t expect it to show us what it was really capable of. While shooting a short video, we positioned ourselves to capture the spray dispersion – while trying to stay out of its way. However, it turned out we underestimated the “fog” dispersion.

I only felt a slight sting in my nose and some tearing, but my colleague? He became a living demonstration of its effects for 20 minutes. Tearing, burning, stinging eyes... everything meant to scare off a bear hit him instead – from just a small amount that was likely carried by the wind.

Since then, we’re absolutely clear: this is no toy!
