Poikilo Blade (PKB) is an American brand of folding knives that combine modern materials with innovative opening mechanisms.

DIVERSITY ALREADY IN THE NAME

The name comes from the Greek word POIKILOS, meaning diversity – and that’s exactly what their knives offer: a wide range of designs, functions, and inspirations. From elegant classics to wild sci-fi innovations. PKB combines functionality, style, and boldness in development. High-tech materials, stunning lines, and a good dose of originality.

THE UNION OF TWO SOULS WITH THE SAME NAME

POIKILO is the work of Andy and Vince Wang, two knife maniacs brought together by their love of balisongs, their vision to create something truly unique, and their commitment to excellence. Andy has been collecting and using knives since 2007, and Vince discovered his passion in 2014. They connected via Instagram in 2016 and founded Poikilo Blade in 2021.

POIKILO ORCA SCORES AT BLADE SHOW WEST

The brand gained recognition in the knife community, including two prestigious awards at the Blade Show West 2024 for the Poikilo Orca model.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE

The Poikilo portfolio includes knives for both EDC (Everyday Carry) and tactical use. They stand out through high-quality materials, innovative engineering solutions, and designs optimized for safe and effective use.

BÖHLER IN THE LEADING ROLE

Most models feature blades made from premium Böhler M398 powder steel, considered top-tier technology in the knife industry.

M398 blades offer:

  • Extreme edge retention
  • High resistance to wear and corrosion
  • Hardness of HRC 60–62 (depending on heat treatment)

In addition to high-end blades, Poikilo uses structural elements from aerospace-grade titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) for excellent strength and low weight. Selected models include decorative yet functional components from ZircuTi – a unique zirconium-titanium composite combining aesthetics with high durability.

TRIAL BY FIRE

Each Poikilo knife undergoes precise heat treatment tailored to the specific steel – such as Böhler M398. This ensures the blade achieves optimal hardness (HRC 60–62 for most models).

Poikilo blades are typically ground using flat grind (V‑grind) for functional, practical use.

Handles are ergonomically shaped from premium titanium, sometimes combined with ZircuTi or Crystal Ti for enhanced durability and visual appeal.

SURFACE MATTERS

Poikilo Blade uses various surface finishes tailored to function, durability, and looks. Common options include stonewashed, satin finish, and DLC coating.

These enhance resistance to wear and corrosion, reduce reflections (ideal for tactical use), ease maintenance, and improve overall appearance. Some finishes also mask scratches and wear.

  • Stonewashed – matte textured surface masking wear. Ideal for EDC. Poikilo uses three variants:
    • MSW = Mirror Stonewash
    • PSW = Pearlescent Stonewash
    • DSW = Dark Stonewash
  • Satin finish – traditional brushed texture highlighting blade shape. Elegant, but more prone to scratching.
  • DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) – ultra-hard black coating offering high performance with low reflectivity.

TESTED BY QUALITY

Poikilo Blade emphasizes precision, durability, ergonomics, and construction excellence. Models undergo internal quality control including sharpness, torsional strength, and grip comfort during everyday carry.

THE MISSION OF POIKILO BLADE IS CLEAR AND AMBITIOUS

PKB aims to produce the finest knives for enthusiasts, collectors, and practical users worldwide. Their knives are seen as personal companions and reflections of identity.

What makes Poikilo different is their community engagement – they actively listen and innovate.

Using elite materials and bold inspirations – from nature to sci-fi – they build knives that surprise, perform, and build trust.
