The M311 SPELTER knife was crafted through collaboration with forward air observation units, close protection teams, and special air operations experts. Contributions from other military and security professionals also played a crucial role in its design. Throughout the development process, we prioritized incorporating their insights and needs. This unique partnership allowed us to thoroughly test the quality of the selected materials, design, and overall construction. The knife underwent extensive testing in extreme environments and diverse climates, from the hot, dry, and humid regions of Asia to the frigid zones beyond the polar circle.
The blade is forged from one of the finest steels globally, the Swedish Elmax. This premium steel extends through the entire knife body to the handle's base, which features a glass-breaking point. The blade boasts an exceptionally durable DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) coating that reduces reflections, resists corrosion, and enhances the steel's sliding properties. The handle is crafted using 3D machining from Micarta, providing a comfortable grip due to its ergonomic shape and textured grooves. A safety paracord loop is included to prevent the knife from slipping out of your hand during use. The knife's structure is secured by robust threaded sleeves and four M5 screws, all with a DLC finish. For easy, reliable, and secure carrying, the knife comes with a self-locking Kydex sheath, featuring openings for attachment to a blade-tech system, allowing for compatibility with both molle and pals tactical webbing. A generous flow opening facilitates quick and easy maintenance of the sheath. Alongside the Kydex sheath, we provide a hanger for convenient belt carrying.
